Gettin’ Pumped for a Year Abroad!

An Awkward First Blogpost

My name is Wescott Randolph Sharples… but you can call me Wescott.  At three and a half, I went on a trip around the world for the first time.  Although I don’t remember the majority of what I assume was an amazing endeavor, ever since that gargantuan trip my home expanded from a little house in the blistering city of Austin, Texas to the entire planet Earth.

Apparently my crazy parents’ unquenchable angst for exploring was not satisfied back then because, guess what, we’re doing it all again!  Leaving for a year has never really fazed me.  Sure, I’ll miss my beloved dogs, my amicable friends, and a precious season of sports, but I’d take an opportunity like this over those things, again and again.  And it’s just an added bonus that I get to miss a year of school!  It’s like Shing Xiong once said, “In the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.”

I couldn’t be more excited to embark on this once in a lifetime experience and I’m eager to keep posting!

Your quote is something that touched a cord and I will always keep in my front pocket! Have an amazing adventure with your family and know that your friends will be waiting to hear all about your travels when you return.
