Our Adopted Pools

Zanzibar is a beach lover’s paradise! On the east coast, there are beaches that stretch for miles and, even in high season, you see more locals than you do tourists hanging out and enjoying the Indian Ocean.  The sand is so white and soft that it could easily be mistaken for snow in a photo…especially when someone in the picture has on a Santa hat 😉

Tuck and Jones wrote a message in the sand for Hugs with pinecones, who they were really missing for Christmas!

The island pace is very laid back and our only motivation to go anywhere revolves around restaurants and pools 😉  In Zanzibar, there are several places that have restaurants and pools and if you eat there, you can also swim….bingo!!!! Add kite boarding and it sounds like the perfect hangout for the 9 of us!

The first is a place called Sahari but we fondly refer to it as “The Square Pool.” It opened on December 1st, just in time for the holidays. Italian owned, they have killer food and olive oil and balsamic vinegar at every meal which we very much appreciate. http://www.saharizanzibar.net

The second is a place called “Paje by Night.” It is roughly 2 1/2 miles south of our hotel in Paje, the epicenter of kite boarding. We have become pros at making the trek to Paje and getting home before dark (you don’t want to be walking on the beach in the dark according to our local friends.)  Paje by Night has the added bonus of accepting credit cards which is VERY RARE in Zanzibar. This place would definitely be our #1 pick for anyone wanting to come to Zanzibar in the future for a vacation. Super fun and not super fancy with great food, a beautiful beach and lots of great kiteboarding instructors! http://www.pajebynight.net

Great things come from connecting and living in the moment. Love seeing the Skipper in his Hammock sipping his refreshment. Wonder what brilliance will come from this chapter.

I swear Cliff is looking younger and younger in photos the longer you are on your trip!
