Serenity in the garden? Not a chance :)

Woke up early this morning to enjoy a cup of coffee in the garden before the inevitable chaos of the day.  Next to friends and family, our garden is definitely the thing I will miss most!  I am comforted by the fact that I know we will see some amazing gardens on our trip and inevitably bring back new ideas and new garden art. I also know that Mouni, Kim, Ned and Grace will take good care of everything :)

Looking out into the garden this morning!

Looking out into the garden this morning!

But the dream of a quiet cup of coffee in the garden never happened.  Our FEDEX package from the VISA/PASSPORT expediting company arrived promptly at 10 am just as FEDEX had promised but the envelope only contained 1 passport!!!  MINE!  The dudes at the SF office of A. Briggs forgot to put the other 6 passports in the FEDEX!!!  Yikes!  So 4 hours of waiting on hold and arguing with people in Washington DC, SF and Seattle, they now say that our passports will be meeting us at the ticket counter of the airline at 5 pm because they arer sending them DHL same day!  We will see!  Our flights leave at 7:20 pm so if they are a tiny bit late, we might not be leaving today after all.  Needless to say, the expensive white glove treatment they promise you at A. Briggs is not really what you get.

Well, we knew this would be an adventure, we just didn’t think the travel stress would happen this early!  Stay tuned….

Lisa

P.S.  I remind myself that I DO have my passport so I could always go ahead and meet everyone else in Florence at the end of the week :)

Geez! As if you needed that!

But speaking of Florence, be sure to go to the Galileo museum. It’s one of my favorites… full of telescopes and globes. VERY! interesting.

Buon viaggio, mi amici! xxoo -nm

Spoke to a unusually calm(under the circumstances) Cliff this afternoon. Hope you have your passports now and are enjoying a nice tequila waiting for your flight. Bon Voyage all. See you with Jalaane on Easter Island.
