My Cool New Camera Bag!!

Photography has evolved a ton in the last 20 years and there are millions of cool new gadgets and technologies including super sophisticated, high-resolution, GPS enabled, wifi-connected, digital cameras.  But for those of you who know me well, you know that I am still taking pictures with a 35-mm camera and 100 ASA black and white film…and I plan on still doing so on this trip J

So while I don’t plan to change my camera technology, I decided to invest in a new camera bag because my old one was not very secure and I didn’t feel comfortable carrying around a passport, money, and miscellaneous other important stuff in my old one.

Where else to buy a new bag than eBags.com!  Love, love, love eBags!  They started back in the Garden.com days and they are still around.  Their website is killer and their customer service is great too so I knew if I bought something that didn’t work, they would easily exchange it.

I read all the reviews and opted for the CamSafe Venture V8 Anti-Theft Camera Shoulder Bag by PacSafe! Or course, I bought it in orange J    Next to my new “As Seen On TV” garden hose which is my absolutely FAVORITE new purchase, my camera bag is a close second.  For those of you who love gardening, you should run out and get the new “pocket hose“…you can find it at Target!  For those of you who are worried about my packing list, don’t worry…I don’t plan on bringing the hose J

Back to the camera bag….I have been using it for about 7 weeks now and it is great.  Easy to get my camera out while carrying it and holds enough stuff without being too bulky.  It also has an RFID pocket to block folks trying to digitally hijack credit card info and it has a lightweight, metal mesh built into the fabric to prevent slashing.  It is definitely an upgrade!  Cliff actually ended up getting a PacSafe backpack as well.  His is a little bigger but it has essentially the same features.  Oh, one other great feature of both bags is that they have a hidden pocket for an iPad.  Gotta love that!

As for film, that is a whole other topic that almost justifies a new blog post….but don’t worry, I will refrain J   You can’t put  film in your checked luggage anymore because of the scanners which will ruin it.  Now, you have to carry all film with you.  This is complicated when you have 200 rolls!  So I have divided up my film…I am taking 60 rolls, sent a bunch to my parents to bring and more to friends who are meeting us in Vietnam.  I bought my film from B&H in NYC which is the absolute best place to get film.  Join “project equator” on Instagram to get the best of the best pics from the road!
