Second Day of Chaos

September 13, 2013 at 2:09 am  •  Posted in Italy by

As you may already know from my mom’s previous post, departure day was not the smoothest way to start out the trip. So i’m just gonna skip to the next day of our adventure. Our plane came late to the airport, and that came in handy the day before with all the crazy things happening, but sadly there must be a problem in our well planned and organized start to the trip. And this problem is that we were going to be an hour late to our connecting flight from Frankfurt to Florence because of a delay due to weather.

And sadly we could not be saved this time. We ran out of our plane with many others trying to catch their flights too, but, in Germany, they make you go through security again. Because of our large family they just wanted to get rid of us, so they put us in the fast lane. After we got out of security, we rushed to our gate only to find our flight had boarded and left.

Luckily the Frankfurt airport is what you would call luxurious. We booked a flight for 9:15 pm and went through the process of security and passport checks again. And do to the delay on the plane, Condor Airlines gave us 165 euros in vouchers for dinner. So we went to a Restaurant/cafe that definitely lived up to the Frankfurt, luxurious title. We spent the rest of our vouchers on candy and food to bring to Italy. We finally made it on our flight after dinner. Half of us fell right to sleep due to our red eye for twelve hours. We arrived in Florence after a very short day (because of the 9 hour time difference), completely exhausted!

OMG! “Exhausting” doesn’t begin to describe it! Two days and you are already travel pros! Yep, I know the Frankfurt airport and that second security check-in can make switching planes a nightmare. Glad they fed you.
