Brides, Brides and More Brides

bride 4 bride 5 bride 6

Santorini boasts 5-6 weddings per day which seems like a lot ,but if you walk around at sunset or sunrise you would swear the number must be more like 500-600!  There are brides EVERYWHERE!  Getting their pictures taken with the dramatic caldera as the background.

Turns out that most of these “brides” are not here to get married….they are already married!  They are just traveling with their wedding dress to take amazing photos!  This is kind of genius!!!  For the most part, in the US, we put our dress on for the big day and then never put it on again.  In the Chinese culture, they cart their dress around the world taking pictures over and over with different backdrops. Super smart!!  Mouni, maybe you should bring your dress with you to Hanoi :)

It all makes sense, Paris had so many brides and so did Hanoi. So fun! Great pics!

HA! Maybe!?! I’m for sure going to have a couple Ao Dai’s made though! (Vietnamese traditional dress, now most commonly worn by women. In its current form, it is a tight-fitting silk tunic worn over pantaloons. ~wikipedia) I think Jones might like to come with me for that fashion outing 😉

Fabric stores! Fabric stores! You are going to all these amazing wonderful fantabulous fabric stores without me and I’m so envious! Wait till you discover the gorgeous silks in Thailand and Vietnam! (I bet you already know about those.) Think of the patterns in African cottons!

Lisa, It’s me Suzi – we met at Cannon Beach when our kids (some of them anyway) were taking surfing lessons. Your trip looks amazing so far! I found your blog a week or two ago and I’m definitely a follower :). John has only been surfing once since school has started — too busy with fall baseball. I look forward to reading more about your trip. -Suzi
